Manuel's review: V for Vendetta
Movie review: V for Vendetta
Ok so first of all, this movie is incredible. Imagine an
action movie had a baby with a philosophical movie, and then this baby came out
as the pinnacle of movie evolution. This baby then wins a beauty contest
without even entering, and beats up chuck Norris for fun with one arm tied
behind his back.
To give a brief review of what happens, basically Evey
Hamond is young woman forced to live with a crime fighting vigilante who calls
himself V. This companionship revolutionised not only themselves, but the
nation in which they live. In the movie, Hugo Weaving gives a stunning
performance as V, a chivalrous yet sinister vigilante. Meanwhile, Natalie
Portman portrays Evey, a broken individual who regains her integrity in a most
unlikely manner.
Now for the not so dark stuff. Once you finish watching this
mental org*sm of a movie, you get the feeling of finishing an essay 3 hours
before it’s due. The beautiful philosophy interwoven with the bloody violence
creates a visual symphony of beauty and power. For those of you who like movies
like The Matrix, The Dark Knight, and Fight Club, this movie will speak to you
on a spiritual level.
